LOCATION:
Baudeshwor cave,and waterfall lies in the northern part of Kathmandu Valley:at about 7 to 8 Km away from the ringroad i.e Samakhushi Chowk,in the lap of Shivapuri National Park in Jhor,Mahankal Village.The village Jhor is bypass to Newakot district.Its eastern part is connected with Budanilkhantha VDC while weastern is with Shanghla VDC.The northern is to Newakot district where as southern is to Tokha VDC.And now the village is allocated in Tokha Municipality .The village is divided into two wards of municipality i.e 1 &2.The cave lies in ward no.1 in Baudhu Ghau.
HISTORY OF VILLAGE
The Baudeshwor temple & village Jhor is bounded by hills in all three sides East,west and north.A beautiful scene of Kathmandu Valley can be observed from the village at southern direction.The name Jhor came because there is a saying that,A region bounded by hills in 3 directions and rains most of the time throughout the year is called Jhor:& that is why the village is named as Jhor as it rains most of the time here.
HISTORY OF CAVE AND TEMPLE
It is believed that from the story of" Shree Shwastani Prameshwori Brata Katha" after Shatidevi (the beloved wife of lord Shiva) gave her life Mahadev begains to travel the world carrying her dead body.Her body then begains to decomposed and the places where the definite body part got decomposed formed a religious holy place,so as to here the chest of Shatidevi decomposed and lord krishna came here and devoted here. Lord being pleased gave Lord Krishna the power to attract" Gopanis".And thats why the temple is called as SHREE KRISHNA BAUDESHWOR BAN MAHADEV.
It is also believed that Kunti and Pach pandevs have traveled here as their footstep are marked in stones.
